The information presented on this website is not intended to treat, diagnose or provide professional medical advice, of any kind. You should ALWAYS consult your doctor, prior to starting or stopping any prescriptions, medical treatments or home remedies. Using your own common sense, prudence, discernment and research is ALWAYS advised! Women who are pregnant or breast feeding, infants, pets and those with certain medical conditions, allergies and/or sensitivities should use extra caution when selecting essential oils and ALWAYS consult a doctor prior to use. A patch test is an important tool to ensure safe use, prior to the widespread topical use of essential oils. A patch test is a small-scale test of an essential oil on the skin in a small, inconspicuous, area prior to widespread, topical use for the purpose of ensuring no rash or other allergic reaction will result. It’s best to wait at least 24-72 hours after performing a patch test to ensure no negative reactions will occur. If redness, itching or other reaction occurs, discontinue use and seek professional medical attention as soon as possible. Some essential oils that are safe for humans, may not be safe for pets. Research is advised to ensure everyone’s comfort, and it is something to keep in mind before you start diffusing essential oils in the same air that your pets will breathe. Always check with a veterinarian prior to using an essential oil on an animal. If you have a bird in the house, you should NOT diffuse essential oils inside the home. Smaller pets may react poorly, regardless of the type diffused. Essential oils are concentrated and MUST be diluted in a carrier oil, prior to use whether topical or aromatherapeutic. While many essential oils are derived from edible herbs and spices, consuming essential oils is NOT advised. Essential oils should NOT be used or consumed internally, unless directed to do so by a licensed professional medical doctor or a licensed herbal practitioner and then ONLY as directed. Essential oils can be caustic due to their highly concentrated form and for this reason caution is advised regardless of sensitivities or medical conditions. Essential oils can be very potent and in concentrated forms they can burn the skin. Essential oils MUST be diluted in a carrier oil prior to topical or aromatherapeutic use. You can find guides online for best dilution practices. Dilution ratios can vary depending upon the recipient’s age, medical history and tolerances. Those with sensitivities, certain medical conditions, children, infants, elderly, pregnant and breast-feeding women have different recommended ratios for dilution than the average user and caution is advised. If you have certain medical conditions or take certain prescription medications, you will want to take extra care when using essential oils because they can interact and cause adverse reactions, so ALWAYS consult with your doctor prior to use.
